DAY 1—JERUSALEM • ST CATHERINE
We make an early start from our hotel in Jerusalem as we head south, past the Dead Sea to the Taba Border between Israel & Egypt. Bid farewell to our Israeli guide as we are introduced to our Egyptian guide. Depart today for biblical Mt. Sinai, where Moses received the Ten Commandments. We travel through the Sinai Desert situated between the Gulf of Suez and the Gulf of Aqaba. At the southern end of the peninsula is a mass of granite mountains, some of which are 8,000 feet above sea level. The chief peak is Jebel Musa, “Mountain of Moses” or Mt. Sinai. Proceed to our pension-like hotel for dinner and overnight.
DAY 2 — ST CATHERINE • CAIRO
At about 3:00Am this morning, we begin our climb up to Mt. Sinai where it is believed that Moses received the Ten Commandments from God. Return for breakfast at the hotel. We continue through the Sinai desert to Cairo. We arrive in the land of the Pharaohs, Jacob, Joseph and Israel during the famine! Upon arrival we meet our guide and are immediately transported into Cairo, the capital of Egypt. We transfer to our hotel to settle in and start soaking up the atmosphere of this exciting city. Dinner and overnight in Cairo.
DAY 3 — CAIRO
We begin our sightseeing with a tour of the Grand Pyramid, one of the seven wonders of the world. Continue on to the Egyptian museum, location of Tutankhamen’s treasures and ancient remains. Visit to the Hanging Church – the most famous Coptic church in Cairo. The Hanging Church was named so as it was built by the Nile River over the Roman Gate of Babylon. During a walking tour, our guide will point out that this section of the old city was the route taken by Abraham, Joseph, Moses and the family of Jesus – an inspiring thought. A stop will be made at the papyrus factory store, where we see the process of creating lovely Egyptian art pictures. Dinner at the hotel.
DAY 4 — CAIRO • USA
Transfer to the airport for our flight home. Arrive home the same day.
